I ventured into the newest neighbourhood business this morning and met a woman named Malia!
Malia was born in Thunder Bay and has lived here for most of her life. She spent a bit of time working in BC and a six month stint traveling in England.
Malia says she doesn’t really have a lot of spare time, but she does enjoy painting, swimming, and petting dogs.
She’s also the best employee at this amazing new eatery, Pineapple Express! She also the only employee, but that’s neither here nor there.
The best is the best!
If you look back a few months when we met Catherine, you’ll recognize the proprietor of Pineapple Express.
It’s dear Catherine!
Action shot, speaking with a supplier behind the counter…
Today was the second day The Pineapple Express was open and I was excited to go inside and take a peek!
As you can see from the menu, there’s a lovely little selection of savoury meals, but there’s also baked goodies like pie, cake, and cookies available at the counter.
You might also recognize the building. It’s blue now but longtime Thunder Bay residents will recognize the former Harri Bakery location.
I’m so happy this great location will continue to provide wonderful food for the neighbourhood. Catherine is a great chef and a lovely person. Downtown PA is lucky to have this new gem.
We’re lucky to have both Catherine AND Malia!
Check out the Facebook page to see hours of operation and menu updates. There will be a grand opening happening sometime within the next few weeks and June 28th will be a day celebrating Peruvian ceviche! Keep watch for details on the page!
Thank you Malia, for posing for pictures and sharing the spotlight with your new employer!
