There’s a beautiful little boutique on Bay St, on the upper floor of number 278.

It’s called Jewels of Crown.

The wonderfully large windows bathe every square inch with sunlight and it practically sparkles.

It really is a jewel.

Carly has been at the helm of this unique vintage store for several years now, though it’s been about two years at this location.

For as long as she can remember, Carly has enjoyed searching through vintage stores and yard sales to create a unique style of her own. She has always had such a knack for finding beautiful pieces and hoped to share this skill with a wider audience. Carly, living on Crown St. at the time, strived to repurpose and rehome one-of-a-kind jewels to vintage loving ladies all over Thunder Bay.

And Jewels of Crown was born.

As a child, Carly was always interested in fashion. As an adult, she gets to hunt down treasures, clean them up, and present them to the people. Stepping into her storefront is like stepping into an art gallery:

Museums and galleries have curators and Carly is the curator of a beautiful vintage fashion haven. You can peruse the collection of antique furs, flip through soft sweaters, try on shoes and dresses, and choose a nice purse or clutch to complete the ensemble.

Carly’s collection changes frequently as she continually acquires treasures from second-hand stores, yard sales, and estate sales. Everything is so nicely photographed showcased on Instagram and Facebook:

Carly has a four year old and a new baby so her days are pretty busy. Being a working mom and having young kids is exhausting but Carly is dedicated to keeping good clothes out of the landfill. Each piece in Jewels of Crown is hand-picked and just waiting for a new home.

Thank you Carly, I can’t wait to come back… when it’s warmer! Congratulations on the birth of your new baby! You are a shining beauty who truly makes our city glimmer and glow.
